Reality Mom is written by and for parents who humbly accept, perhaps even bask in at times, their imperfections. We are the parents who forget our kids' lunches, sometimes swear in front of our (and perhaps your) impressionable youth, and who choose to follow our intuition, rather than the advice of "experts." We share stories from all aspects of life, not just parenting. Rather than tell you how to make the perfect cupcake or organize your house, we'll make you laugh and maybe even cry.
Reality Mom is published four times a year and features visual artists in every issue. Visual and written submissions are always welcome and should be sent to Reality Mom.
Subscriptions are $12/year and can be purchased here.
Came across your zine recently through Mamapedia, out of Chicago. Subscribed immediately and am passing on to friends. I am really loving it. I’m recently separated and working through the steps toward divorce. Wishing for my own “Fabulosities.” I’ve got lots of friends but wanting to connect with people who get where I am. Still feeling a lot of judgment from some and also from myself. So much crap to slog through still. (Always?) I’m an artist, focusing on jewelry now but also a singer-songwriter with 2 cds to my credit. Ok, 1 1/2.

"I got the latest zine yesterday and wanted to share with you that I thought it was the best yet. It was meaningful and startling in a good way, very deep and helpful. You are a great writer and engage on a simple but not simplistic level.

Your writing is amazingly awesome. In a secretly stashed Led Zeppelin box set kind of way. Classic, hits all the highs and lows, makes me feel completely rooted in a younger version of me. The punk rock version of me doesn’t understand this Zeppelin-feeling, but the rest of me does entirely. Just know you are doing good work, through your book, your zine, your presence in this world.

I read your Best of Issue and really enjoyed it. You have a snappy down to earth writing style that I appreciate. The articles all had me smiling and chuckling. Especially the “Yanky,” story… Yikes! Hilarious.
My partner and I are having our first baby (daughter) next month and this type of writing would be great for us to read on a regular basis.

"I do appreciate you putting yourself out there and have been following you since I had my baby 4 years ago. It is like a kismat surprise when i turn a corner and see your simple cover and bold 'Reality Mom' heading waiting for me. Recently, you landed in the coffee shop next to my business and i was ecstatic. i couldn't even read you the first few times i saw you because i wanted to save it. I know, weird..."
