3 week Memoir Class offered through Field's End, Bainbridge Island
Thursdays, March 15, 22, and 29 10:30-12:30
Through lecture, discussions, and readings we will explore the importance of theme, the art of using judgment, forms of memoir, how to weave musings along with plot to keep the story going, and that sticky thing called truth. This class is for anyone writing a memoir, whether you are in the brainstorming stage, working on a revision, or somewhere in between.
Digging Deep
6-week workshop Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-noon from 1/25-2/29
Writers of memoir often become worried about how others are characterized or tell their story in a series of anecdotes rather than properly using their thoughts and emotions to propel the story. During this class, you will be asked to forget about what your mother will think, or if your company will sue you; you will even be asked to not concern yourself with knowing the exact truth for the time being in order to transform your memoir from a story only your best friend would read, to one many people want to read. This class is designed for those who have a solid draft of a memoir and would like help workshopping certain sections to make them richer.
